My story, "Jackie's Goodbye," was a finalist for the National Magazine Award for Public Interest. The article was anthologized in The Best American Magazine Writing. It was named one of Longreads’ best of the year.
I am an editor and reporter with the global religion team at the Associated Press. Before that, I helped create Religion & Politics, an award-winning online journal at Washington University in St. Louis. I grew up in rural South Carolina and graduated from the University of Georgia and Harvard Divinity School.
